Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
A dry, structured wine, firm and with tannic, concentrated fruit. Spirit and acidity are both evident, but with its dark, brooding style this is an impressive return to form by Croft.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
With its dry, dark side, this wine offers firm tannins to go with the somewhat austere structure. Of course there is sweetness here and an attractive perfumed violet aroma, but the texture dominates.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
Very burnt and harsh, with spirit dominating, this is a sad showing for such a famous name.

This oldie isn’t much of a goodie, and it goes to prove that holding wine beyond its time is a mistake. The aromas are strong and not very nice. The sweet, one-dimensional palate is still lively and relatively clean, but it lacks anything special. It may or may not have been better years ago.

Aromas of wild berry fruits immediately make this wine attractive. To taste, there are raisins and dried fruits along with lightweight soft fruits. The tannins come through to finish, leaving a pleasantly dry aftertaste. —R.V.

Dry, firm and structured, with balancing acidity. Enjoy its solid tannins, spice and dried fruits. Croft, now in the same group as Taylor Fladgate, is becoming a brand to buy again.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
This is a superlative vineyard, and this wine shows its true character, a big, hearty wine, but one with a structured core of mineral, rich fruits and dark tannins. With its concentration, expect it to age well over 10 years and more.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
With its rosé color and its lightness, this is a new style of Port. It’s sweet, lightly fruity, very soft, with few tannins to give texture. For lovers of sweet aperitifs, this would work well. Drink chilled, or use in cocktails.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
Great ripe fruits dominate this young, fresh wine. There is balancing sweetness and delicate, lightly burnt acidity. Now under the same management as Taylor and Fonseca, Croft is a name that should be as well known for Port as for Sherry.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
Now under the same ownership as Taylor and Ferreira, Croft Ports have taken on a new lease of life. This is a classic Port from a classic name, with its ripe fruit and structure. It has flavors of dried raisins, figs and dark chocolate, along with firm, dusty tannins and a dry aftertaste.
