Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
The high alcohol makes for a slightly hot, slippery feeling in the mouth, and the tannins are firm and chunky, but this Cab is nice and dry, with impressively deep flavors. Black currants, ripe blackberries, roasted dates and Asian spices sink deep into the palate, and last through a long finish. Now through 2012.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
This Petite Sirah is rustic, in the jagged tannins that tingle and prickle the mouth, and the briary, brambly flavors of sweetly ripe wild berries. But it’s enormously flavorful, with a chocolaty edge to the red and black fruits. The alcohol is gigantic, nearly 16 percent, so although the wine is totally dry, it has a sweet, glycerine taste.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
Opens with a strongly oaky, leesy note, and then it turns flamboyantly oaky and fruity in the mouth. The citrus and tropical fruit flavors are accompanied by a caramel taste that comes from well-charred oak barrels. A bit obvious in opting for a blowsy style.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
Made in a heavier, full-bodied style, with extracted, ripe fruit suggested plum, blackberry and espresso. Dry, with thick but soft tannins, it needs a little more delicacy.
