This Garnacha has a strong berry nose with hints of leather, but it doesn’t hold up to airing. Within the basics, look for loud, juicy fruit that tastes like plum, strawberry and cherry mixed together. Seems most complete on the finish.

Exhibits dry red fruits and mushroom on the nose, with accents of forest and spice. Somewhat minty and forward on the palate, and arguably a touch gritty and sweet. Raw as it might be, no one can say this wine doesn’t have guts. Imported by The Marchetti Co.

A perfectly solid Garnacha with pepper, bright red fruit and a touch of country style to the bouquet despite its pedestrian price. The palate is bright and tastes of plum and red berry, while the feel is good and the finish fruity and lively. What inexpensive red wine should be.

There are good 83s and bad ones, and honestly this is a perfectly good one. It's not too deep on fruit and it's a touch low-acid and pudgy, but the apple, papaya and peach flavors are o.k. and the finish is clean and crisp.

Cherry skins, red licorice and a spot of earthiness carry the sweet nose. The mouth offers additional ripe red fruits, decent tannins and perky acidity. It's a balanced, easy, no-brainer red for those not too picky about what they're drinking. Call it good, sweet fun.
