Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
This wine has a full, ripe character to it that will appeal to fans of jammy Syrahs, and its big, mouthfilling flavors give the kind of New World character that does well with grilled meats and robust cheeses. Though not terribly complex, it’s a fun wine from an emerging region.

Sweet red wines are hard to come by but Lescombes in New Mexico offers up this passable Beaujolais-like example. Scents of cinnamon spice and blueberry flavors in the mouth complete the unique profile.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
For fans of semisweet bubbly in a bright salmon shade, this sparkler offers a confected nose reminiscent of watermelon Jolly Ranchers. Softly pétillant with a heavy, syrupy texture, the palate is akin to liquid cotton candy.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
The vibrant, opaque purple color of this wine attests to its good concentration. The nose shows attractive notes of cherry cola while flavors on the palate are disappointingly diffuse, reminiscent of a red berry soup. The soft, sweetish palate with velvety tannins finishes a bit short.
