A superb wine showing rich and concentrated black-cherry fruit leading toward a long, deep finish. The fruit is edged by chocolate, violets and whiffs of tobacco. If there is better Sangiovese made in California, I haven’t tasted it.

Ripe, rich and elegant, this wine is brimming with black plum, strawberry, cassis, chocolate, spice and herb notes. It’s smooth-textured and seamlessly integrated, even at this early stage. Firm, plush tannins and just the right amount of toasty oak frame the ensemble.

Plush, smooth and packed tight with complex flavors. Blackberry, anise, black cherry, tar, coal, spice, earth and herbs remain tightly wound, waiting patiently to reveal their full charm in time. Supple, smooth tannins and beautiful balance give this wine classic elegance.

What a treat. This is the quintessence of Oakville Cab, with an impressively firm structure, ripe tannins, smooth, supple mouthfeel and long, spicy finish. And what fruit! Scads of rich cassis, chocolate and oak, yet thoroughly dry. Drink now through 2012.
