Intriguing, in a way. The nose has a meaty-oily component, with pleasant coconut flakes and vanilla—it’s almost a savory dessert, really. On the palate it is dry and angular, with fruit flavors that are not very generous (banana peel, peach skin). I like it for its singularity and its finish, but still find a disconnect between nose and palate. Imported by The Vine Press.

This smooth wine has structure, spice and a somewhat mature quality to the plain fruit. Although simple, the fleshy black plum flavor is complemented by notes of violets, brown sugar and a hint of spicy pepper.

. Though there’s some plum fruit and tea on the palate, there isn’t as much structure here; there’s not so much to hold on to. Fruit on the nose is stewy, with eucalyptus accents.

Briny and odd, with flavors akin to watermelon rind mixed with ginger ale. If that sounds strange, join the club. One of our tasters commented that it “hardly seems like wine.” Imported by The Vine Press.
