This is a full-bodied, supple rendition of Marlborough Pinot Noir, boasting smoky, slightly herbal-peppery scents and bold cherry and plum fruit. There’s a suggestion of sassafras or cola as well, which gives this wine an almost Californian flavor. Long and velvety on the finish.

Still admirably fresh, Delta’s 2009 Sauvignon Blanc features pretty straightforward Marlborough traits of red bell pepper, passion fruit and grapefruit in a medium-bodied format. Drink up.

A bit of a letdown after the 2005, this lean, slightly astringent Pinot Noir offers tart cherry flavors touched with black tea leaves. Finishes on a pomegranate note.

An excellent value in Pinot Noir, this wine is made by Matt Thomson, also chief winemaker for Saint Clair. It’s dark and beefy in color, with brooding black cherry fruit on the nose that freshens a bit on the palate, adding beet notes and subtle shadings of herb and spice. Nicely balanced, with a long, silky finish.

Seems a little lean and lacking volume, but this wine makes up for it with attractively smoke-accented aromas and flavors of tart cherries and thyme. Try this crisp, rather linear wine with salmon.

Typical Sauvignon, well executed. Struck flint aromas add an intriguing aspect to this wine, which otherwise delivers melon and fig notes on the midpalate and a zesty, citrusy finish.
