A little rough and scoury around the edges, but gets the job done with some nice doughy, citrus fruit flavors and a dry, crisp finish. Drink now.

A classic cherry, cinnamon, cola and spice nose opens this very attractive Pinot. Beautiful black-cherry, bacon, smoke and truffle flavors mark a striking profile. Lovely mouthfeel; medium- to full-bodied. Fine depth and excellent balance.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
The label says brut but it’s really a blanc de blancs, 95% Chardonnay and 5% Pinot Blanc. Very fine and delicate. Gorgeous pale gold color and a fine mousse. Has lemony-peach aromas, a fine bread-dough quality, with roasted hazelnuts and vanilla. Feels rich and creamy in the mouth, and finishes with a slight bitterness. Very elegant, and will age.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
Not the winery’s best bubbly, as it’s on the rough, sandpapery side. A blend of Chardonnay and Pinot Noir, it has cherry, yeast and smoky vanilla flavors, and finishes dry.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
A very good, sound Pinot with some aspirations to elegance. It’s bone dry and flavorful in cherries, raspberries and sweet vanilla oak. Sharp acidity cuts in early and lasts. Pair with mushroom risotto, grilled salmon or lamb chops.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
The vintage was a very ripe one, and the heat shows. It’s very forward, almost jammy, in sweet strawberry and peach flavors. This robs the wine of some elegance and finesse, but it’s still an attractive sipper.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
A delicious sparkler; shows the delicacy and elegance of a blanc de blancs at its California best. The Chardonnay contributes subtle peach and citrus flavors, and the mousse, or bubbly mouthfeel, is very refined. Should age well. Drink now–2009, at least.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
This rich and yeasty sparkler is very much like the wines of Champagne that it’s modeled after. The nose is yeasty and full of pear aromas, while the palate is defined by orange and apple flavors. The finish is smooth and comes in a couple of layers, and overall the it is mouthfilling and pure.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
Pretty gold color. Smells rich and yeasty, with citrus and honeydew, like a fresh fruit salad. Rich, complex flavors, with bright citrus fruit and a taste of raspberry in the slighty bitter, almond-skin finish. Stylish and elegant. 64% Pinot Noir, 34% Chardonnay and 2% Pinot Blanc.

Domaine Carneros Champagne Blend - 1995

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
This tête de cuvée is a vintage blend that’s almost entirely Chardonnay. Very light and airy, with dry citrus and straw flavors and a hit of yeast. Very good, but at this price it could use more finesse.
