Sweet, jammy fruit with spice from wood aging give a rich and soft wine, packed with ripeness, red cherries and blackberry. At this stage, the wood is major, and needs time to integrate.

The Domaine de Courcel owns a large part of the heart of the Epenots vineyard, within the walls of a clos. This is a wine with a solid structure, cherry and spice flavors, an elegant feel to go with the ripe berry fruits. It is very balanced, the tannins a great support to the fruit.

This has the great aromatic complexity you expect from Rugiens. Generous and full textured, this is a full-bodied, rounded wine. Sweet red fruits, touched by spice, are well balanced with a streak of acidity. Wait for four years, at least.

For a Pommard, this is surprisingly soft, more to do with the black cherry flavors than the tannins. A touch of spice and lively acidity give life to the dense structure. A wine to drink from next year.

Sweet, rich nose with lots of ripe fruit, black cherries most dominant, earthen and wood tones blend with the fruit for a classic Pommard nose; sweet and woody in the mouth, a bit tough at first, but then showing more sweetness in the middle of the mouth; black herbs, black earth, truffles; drier and more coarse at the finish, losing some of the softness and sweetness, and finishing somewhat dry and earthen.
