The basic Muscadet from Joseph Landron is in fact anything but basic. It has great richness, concentration, apricot, sweet melon flavors and great tight acidity. Those flavors just linger deliciously.

Big, ripe, rich style, full of fresh apples and a creamy, soft texture. The wine is fresh, very fruity and rounded. There is an attractive lift of green plum in the aftertaste.

This intensely crisp wine is a glass of grapefruit juice, just pricked with apples. It is so fresh, tight, a delicious shellfish wine (think oysters with a shot of lemon).

Fresh green plums, crispened with lemon zest and lime make a super-fresh style, full of vitality and green fruit structure.

The Hermine d’Or designation is given to high scoring cuvées of Muscadet that are tasted blind. This 2007 from Joseph Landron has a delicious crispness, acidity layered with ripe green plums and green apples. This probably could age for 2–3 years.

Muscadet has changed since we all rejected it in favor of New World whites. This French region at the mouth of the Loire river now makes clean, fresh, light wines which are almost certainly the best accompaniment to shellfish there is. This estate wine is full-bodied, with a touch of toast and soft, ripe fruit. Finely focused, it is complex with green fruits and ripeness combined.
