Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
A Northern Rhône-style white blend, with Marsanne, Viognier and Roussanne. Bursting with succulent peach, pear, honeysuckle and nutty aromas. Dry and complex, but with enormously complex fruit over a stately, steely structure.

A light Rhône blend of Mourvèdre, Grenache and Cinsault. Onion skin color. This is a serious rosé, with raspberry, tea and wildflower aromas and flavors. Very dry and fine, with a complex flavor profile and a rich, long finish.

The winery began bottling a Roussanne only in 2001. Marching to its own distinct beat, this interesting wine is soft and full-bodied, with a creamy texture framing flavors of apricots, peaches and kiwi. It’s dry and balanced.

From Shenandoah Valley and Fiddletown grapes, Terre Rouge has crafted a rich, exotic Viognier. It captures the variety’s lush tropical fruit and wildflower flavors, but maintains balance with crisp acidity and barrel fermentation, which makes the wine creamy smooth.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
Here’s a country-style wine, rough and ready for consumption. It’s rugged in texture, with jagged tannins framing superripe berry flavors leading to a finish that’s almost sweet in raisins.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
DTR’s top-of-the-line red blend, with Grenache, Mourvèdre and Syrah. Held back for four years before release, this beauty has developed bottle bouquet of leather, tar, earth, cigar box and vanilla, with a lovely plum note. Ultrarich and complex on the palate, big, but dry and fine. A great food wine.

Bandol is the model for this dry, likeable blend of Mourvèdre, Grenache and Syrah. It’s a complex wine, with layers of smoky plum, blackberry tea, carob, heirloom tomato and cedar. Finishes a little aggressively in texture, but it’s a good value.

Rustic and fruity, with considerable new oak, this wine is fully dry. It offers a wealth of blackberry, cola, coffee and dark bitter chocolate flavors, with a peppery finish. Best now and for a few years.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
Rich and unctuous, this wine is made from the oldest Syrah vineyard in the Sierra Foothills, and you can taste the concentration in the intense blackberry, cherry, blueberry and chocolate flavors. Fortunately the wine is not only fruity, but balanced in crisp acidity and firm tannins, while new French oak adds an overlay of vanilla and toast. Delicious now, it will develop bottle complexity over the next eight years.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
This is a tannic, full-bodied Syrah. With fleshy blackberry, cola, chocolate and coffee flavors, it has a rustic mouthfeel and a dry astringency. This might age to greater softness and complexity in a few years.
