Broad and mouthfilling, this darkly fruited Vacqueyras is also thickly tannic, requiring rare beef at this stage of its evolution to tame the tannins. The coffee, baking spice and blackberry aromas and flavors are pleasing, so either bring on the roast or cellar it for 3–4 years.

Shows pretty notes of fresh, perfumy raspberries, then adds deeper bass notes of coffee and plum. Firm; give it another two years of cellaring.

Sturdy and solid. Nothing flashy here, just burly cherry fruit aromas and flavors with a modicum of spice. Drink now—maybe with something similarly styled, like a beef stew.
