Blueberries and blackberries are the dominant themes here, with some smoky notes playing a supporting role. Bright, tart and fruity, this doesn’t appear to have the depth for aging. But it is an immensely attractive wine for early quaffing. There are some slightly drying tannins on the finish, so try it with rich or fatty foods for best effect.

I wanted to like this more, given its pretty aromas of cherries and raspberries combined with spring flowers. But there’s an ominous horsey note as well, and a slightly metallic note on the finish that gives some concern.
