Very sweet aromas of ripe red and white cherries and canned peaches belie this wine’s dry palate while the shortish finish shows an appealing citrusy crispness. Firm acidity will allow this wine to keep for several years but it’s probably best drunk now.

The very reliable but little-known house of Ehrhart turns in a true stunner with this Riesling from the Schlossberg vineyard. Subtle but gorgeously complex notes of honey and orange peel serve as the opening act. The off-dry palate displays intense notes of ginger and candied fruit. This wine is both powerful and pure.

The multi-dimensional, hedonistic nose of honey and exotic spices promises big things to come. The palate could have a bit more complexity but overall we have few complaints. A crisp finish keeps the slight residual sugar from seeming cloying.

Rich scents of Asian spice and candied orange peel set the scene for powerful flavors of white pepper, Turkish delight and rose water. The lush palate has quite a bit of sweetness, but not too much to serve with dinner, particularly if you are cooking Thai food.

Soft and lush, this wine opens with papaya, honey and pear underpinning a spicy top note. It’s not quite as complex in the mouth, and noticeably off-dry. A good choice with fruit salad. Drink now.

Easy to drink with plenty on offer to keep you interested. The nose suggests essences of beeswax, honeysuckle, pear and citrus with the palate conjuring flavors of ripe red apples and baked peaches. Medium-full body and intensity bring the wine into focus while the delicate fruity finish closes nicely.

This grand cru selection seems to have a bit of everything. Essences of mint, honeydew and apricot are perfectly integrated with flavors of apple, citrus and honey, creating a broad mouthfeel that’s coating without being too heavy. A crisp clean finish cuts through the heft to prevent it from falling flat.
