Rich, very ripe nose, slightly metallic edge often found in these wines, citric, smoky, earthen aromas, leather, perfumed with strong hints of chocolate; soft, sweet and silky in the mouth; lots of ripe fruit still in this wine, light and elegant but showing some pleasant signs of age with flavors of leather, truffles, and a nice soft texture; ripe and sweet at the end, but also with a good citric core to maintain freshness and focus; this wine has to be drunk soon, but it is a pleasure right now and demonstrates very well how Volnays soften with age.
