Not quite as good as the Vieilles Vignes bottling, but still downright yummy, this is loaded with red plum fruit that goes down all too easily. The mouthfeel is creamy and supple, the flavors true and satisfying. Drink now-2010.

Guy Ricard’s top cuvée has concentrated, soft tannins and rich, sweet fruit. With flavors of brambles and black berry fruits along with wild thyme and herbs, it looks set to age well over 10 years.

Lovely stuff, boasting knockout aromas of herbal strawberries layered over ripe stone fruit. Flavors follow suit, carried aboard a lush, creamy mouthfeel. Then it finishes long and supple, gliding easily away on supremely ripe tannins. Drink now–2015.

Guy Ricard of Domaine le Couroulu believes his 2000 vintage made wines that will “appeal very quickly.” While his main production is of Vacqueyras, where his cellar is located, he also has vineyards in the Côtes du Rhône appellation. This wine confirms his prediction about 2000: It is ripe, with perfumed aromas and raspberry flavors. Sweet, soft tannins and concentrated fruit make it a great value.
