You hardly notice the mild oak and lees elements in this Chard because it’s so tart with acids and pure in green apple, Meyer lemon and yellow apricot fruit. There’s also a flinty minerality, making this quite Chablisian.

Heavy, soft and tannic, this wine shows black cherry, blackberry flavors and coffee, and is very dry. The cherry finish is attractive, though.

Another flavorful Chard from a fine region and vintage. Aromas of tropical fruits, spices, oak, smoke and lees. Rich and fine in the mouth. The structure is particularly elegant, with crisp acidity, smooth tannins and alcohol all well integrated with the fruit. Gets extra points for harmony and balance.

More floral, tropical-fruit notes than usual in a Pinot Gris. Quite flowery and rich in the mouth, with flavors of butter, honey and apricot. It’s on the dry side, with a hefty jolt of acidity that keeps things clean. Nice cocktail-style wine.

Definitely comes down on the gamy side, with an aroma of bacon or sweaty saddle wafting over black raspberry fruit. Oak adds vanilla and charred-smoky elements. In the mouth it’s fruity, soft and a little simple. A mere 120 cases produced.

There are lots of interesting things going on in this cool-climate wine. It echoes the Northern Rhône with white pepper and blackberry aromas that are complex and inviting. In the mouth, it turns bone dry, with cherry-berry flavors that are swamped by firm tannins. Try after 2006.

Richer and fuller-bodied than your average California Pinot Gris, this one’s got full-throttle flavors of spiced apples and figs, and whistle-clean acidity. It’s delicious and complete, a fine complement to poached salmon with a fruity salsa topping.

Here’s a friendly Chardonnay with bold flavors of peaches and tropical fruits, with a spicy dusting of oak. It has that nice, bright coastal acidity that balances the richness.
