Helmut Dönnhof is at the top of his game. From its explosive nose of powdered quartz and fresh apple skin through the flavors of apple, peach, melon and mineral, this wine has it all. It’s medium-weight—even a bit full-bodied for Riesling—but impeccably balanced. Great length completes the package. Simply put, a tour de force. —J.C.

Sometimes the most memorable wines don't even break the bank. Such was the case this past Friday and this past year; Donnhoff riesling once again stole the show in a line-up of beautiful wines of all types, from many regions, at the French Laundry for my brother's 40th birthday celebration. Meyer lemon overtones were perfectly balanced by racy acidity and floral aromatics. DELICIOUS.
