Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
With 14 years age, this Champagne shows plenty of beautifully mature fruit. At the same time, its petrol and toast aromas and flavors are balanced by soft richness, a rounded citric and pear flavor and a gentle, ripe aftertaste.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
The etching of Charles de Gaulle on the bottle is a reminder that he is buried not far from the Drappier vineyards in the southern Champagne region of the Aube. This 2002 is soft, rich and very easy initially. In the mouth it gains in weight and the acidity shows through well, leaving a ripe but crisp aftertaste.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
A rich, full-bodied wine that is showing signs of attractive oxidation. This suggests it is not a wine for aging. There are plenty of apricot, pear and spice flavors, allied to a soft, open structure, just given point by acidity. In style, it is definitely a Champagne for food.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
Produced from vineyards owned by the monks of Clairvaux abbey, this is Drappier’s top vintage. It shows the most structure and tense character of the wines in the Drappier range. The apple, pear and toast flavors are given final crispness by lemon zest.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
This Chardonnay is generous, closer to Chablis, in a rich southern Champagne style, offering minerality but a rich, wine-like character, with vanilla as well as ripe peaches and soft acidity. Despite its age, the wine shows no sign yet of maturity.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
Taking his practice of bottling with as little sulfur as possible to its logical conclusion, André Drappier has bottled this wine with no sulfur at all. It’s a brave wine, and one where the risk is justified. It is full, very pure in the mouth, full of delicious lemon zest and grapefruit, but rounded out considerably, the fruit right up there. Drink now, is Drappier’s advice—not hard to take.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
With fruit from the Aube and from the Côte des Blancs, Drappier has been able to put together a blend of Chardonnay from four different vineyards. In taste, warmth dominates—this is not a hugely crisp wine, the richness prevailing. But the warm pear and peach flavors all come together, a wine that is in the Drappier pure fruit style.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
Soft, sweet wine with crushed strawberry flavors that show a high dosage and sweet acidity. It is full-bodied, rich, but not well balanced.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
A rich, mellow wine, still with some ripe fruit, softness and fine balance. There are yeast and toast aromas and flavors that fill out the mouth with creaminess and point up the soft apricot flavors. Delicious. Tasted from a magnum.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
The main nonvintage Champagne from Drappier is open, fresh and very easy. The fruit shows pears and apricots, tightened up by some green apple skins. The general feel is softness. An enjoyable apéritif Champagne.
