I was pleasantly suprised by this wine, deep garnet color, hint of dark red cherries and blackberries. Medium body with just a hint of sweet fruit. I have stored this wine for several years.

While we all know the iconic Duckhorn Vineyards wines, and many of us might also know that they are the most frequently poured still wines in the White House (e.g. President Obama served Duckhorn Sauvignon Blanc at his inaugural lunch), their Napa Valley Merlot really impressed me this month. Hearty, velvety, rich, and velvety, it was almost a meal in a glass like a CA Cab, but elegant enough as a Merlot to pair perfectly with some brie, baguette, and Fuji apples.

I was blown away by this blend when I tried it at Duckhorn. It was the last wine we tried, and it was incredible. Rich, flavorful and its definitely something I look forward to uncorking in the future :D

Wine Spectator 90 pts: "Bright lemon, grapefruit and lime notes are refreshing, with tropical hints of pineapple, mango and passion fruit that gain momentum on the finish. Stylish, with intensity and a spicy quality."
