Light, sweet and spicy nose, macerated fruit, very aromatic and perfumed, quite typical of Dujac, there is an almost overpowering sweetness of fruit to the nose; sweet and spicy in the mouth, very smooth and loaded with ripe fruit and earth tones; as Clive Coates put it “slightly decayed and sensual”. Quite earthy and barnyardy on first opening, then assuming the Dujac sweet fruit and ripe aromas with perfumed scents mixed with the faint wafting presence of smoke; very sweet and ripe in the mouth, good acidity, lots of sweet fruit, black cherries; very forward and ripe, with good acidity emerging to balance the finish. I am always amazed at the following these wines have as they belie the essence of Burgundy; this wine opens like putting your nose into a candy counter with overwhelmingly sweet and candied aromas of black cherry drops and mixed fruit candies, enrobed in exotic floral scents that seem better worn than drunk; despite the nose, the wine is surprisingly dilute and uninteresting in the mouth, with earthen, dry, woody flavors that need to show more fruit to be enjoyable; there is a lot of citrus fruit in the wine, but it just doesn’t go anywhere for me; this might improve with more time, but I don’t sense that there are a lot of reserves that this wine can pull up with more time. Very sweet nose, lots of fruit as is typical for the Dujac wines, black cherries, black pepper, as always a bit over the top aromas, perfumed to a fault; very sweet and soft in the mouth, ripe and rich with layers of cooked fruit; black cherries, plums; these wines are a bit too ripe and succulent for my tastes most of the time, and this is one borders on that edge; certainly pleasant and I’m certain appreciated by those who prefer the riper, rounder style of wine.
