Powerful in Zinny character, this blend of Dry Creek and Russian River grapes bursts with brawny flavors of wild berries, chocolate-covered mint, tobacco and pepper, wrapped into sturdy tannins. Shows real class and character.

Pretty good blackberry aromas with an earthy, mulchy edge. Racy and typically rubbery in the mouth, with a muscular structure and herbal red fruit flavors. Very tight and like elastic on the finish. Has its good points with limits.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
A huge, massive Malbec-led blend with sweet, jammy aromas. It’s almost raisiny on the nose, although it leans more toward fig, chocolate and coconut flavors. Where it slips is in mouthfeel: blazing acidity and fierce tannins create a grabbing, grating texture that becomes increasingly sheering on the finish. Simply too rough and tartaric to be considered a great wine. Tasted twice, with consistent results.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
Very dark and sultry, its hard, oak-based bouquet showing shoe polish, asphalt and maple syrup. This one pours on the heft and heat, and thus the flavors of black fruit fall into the monster strata. Finishes with licorice, clove and burnt-wood spice. Extremely ripe and oaky, but still a good modern Malbec.

A tiny whiff of alfalfa is about all that stands in the way of excellence. This is very good Malbec with a fit body and a quiet sort of approach. The palate emphasizes nice red fruit, but there’s still that touch of grassiness at its core. Not overly ripe or hefty; it’s a more restrained style with ample elegance.

Violet in color, with persistent, potent aromas of mint, marzipan and black cherry. This is not your run-of-the-mill soft Malbec; on the contrary, it’s peppered with piercing acidity, which yields a can’t-miss freshness. Flavorwise, we’re talking zesty boysenberry and raspberry.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
As Bonarda goes, this wine is one of the best I’ve tried. From the onset there’s pure fruit on the nose along with hints of mint and vanilla. The palate beams with red cherry, plum and chocolate. It’s a statuesque red with the price of a thousand inferior wines. Highly recommended should you come across it.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
Quite unusual in its aromas; there's a funky but not offputting mix of saucy fruit, aged cheese and green olive. The palate is also aloof, as obtuse berry flavors blend with savory notes and a bit more olive. Good mouthfeel and finishing length help it along.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
Standard plum and berry aromas provide a nice opening to this dark, solid Malbec that’s a little zingy and racy at its core. Flavors of plum and berry are typical for a wine of this class, which finishes with burnt flavors and a final resting place of grainy oak.

A solid example of Bonarda in fine but straightforward form. There’s a comfortable attack to the palate, with likable plum and blackberry flavors. It goes a long way on the finish, and as a whole it meets or exceeds expectations. Give this a try if you’re interested in Argentinean Bonarda.
