Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
Sweet and waxy, with aromas of honey and air freshener. Ultra sweet, with flavors of applesauce and candy. Soft and dilute on the finish. Quite simple stuff.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
Apple juice aromas don’t hold it together for long, and the palate is spritzy and acidic. Apple cider and a touch of vinegar and citrus are the flavors. Not the type of Chardonnay we can recommend.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
Earthy and a touch shy at first, with lightly floral aromas that blend well with the scents of baked plum, prune and blackberry. It’s heavy and cheek-grabbing, but also hugely flavorful and loaded with cassis, blackberry, herbs and tobacco. Long as a marathon on the finish. Drink from 2011 through 2014. 1,000 cases made.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
Short on aromatics, with only a whiff of pear and corn. The palate is soft and fleshy, with dry, limited papaya and melony flavors. Lettuce and other green notes carry the finish, which is bland and dilute. Will have a very short lifespan.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
Earthy smelling, with black-fruit aromas that sit heavy in the glass. The palate pushes black cherry flavors and outsized acidity, and it only gets sharper on the back palate and finish. Flavorful and true to the variety, but piercing.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
Dusty cherry aromas are slightly spiky and feature some tomato, while the palate is solid, a touch sharp and prickly, but good overall. Snappy raspberry is the one and only flavor, while the finish offers heat and some mild oak. Average to good, and fully drinkable.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
Seems as though Echeverria’s idea of reserve Sauvignon is to let the grapes stay on the vines for too long. The wine lacks expression and a pulse. It’s borderline DOA, in fact; the regular 2006 Sauvignon Blanc is livelier.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
Opens with inviting green apple aromas before delivering citric, lemony flavors on a surprisingly soft frame that isn’t overloaded with scouring acidity. All this means the wine is ready to drink now; it has decent fruit with hints of lime and mineral.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
Full and dark, with meaty aromas that can’t be overlooked. The palate is rich and round, teetering on lush but with enough acidity to keep it on an even keel. And the flavors of wild berries and cassis are chewy and satisfying. Starts off stronger than it finishes, but still quite good as a whole.

Echeverria Merlot - 2004

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
Solid and fresh, with full, generally clean berry aromas that are backed up by praiseworthy plum and berry flavors. It’s a juicy wine with good tannic structure, and the finish is dry, toasty and a little fiery. Nice for a moderately oaked, medium-bodied red.
