Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
There’s a playful touch of smoky toast and dusty minerality that adds a deeper dimension to this modern and beautifully constructed wine (one third is aged in barrique). Pair it with leafy greens, seafood and white meat.

You’ll notice a brownish tinge in the glass that gives way to aromas of plum, prune, blue flower and mineral. The wine delivers full and round flavors of forest berries and toasted nuts. Fermented in steel and aged in oak for one year.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
Here is a gorgeous and very fragrant Pinot Bianco with loads of stone fruit, floral and mineral nuances. Spicy acidity livens up the mouth and is fueled by the wine’s creamy and smooth consistency (one third is aged in oak). This is a very drinkable wine: Try it with shellfish, pasta, white meat or with appetizers.

Here’s a ruby-colored Passito made with sweet Moscato Rosa grapes. This is not exactly a complex wine, but boy is it intense. Putting your nose in the glass is like burying your face is a bouquet of fresh red roses. Those amazing floral fragrances appear on the wine’s long, sweet finish.

Honey, sweet peach, vanilla-almond, hay, banana and yellow flower best describe this smooth, creamy Pinot Grigio from northern Italy. The wine closes with refreshing crispness making for an extremely enjoyable experience.

Here’s a wine that scores sky high in drinkability: It is a modern Merlot but avoids being big or brawny. In fact, its structure is just right—solid without being heavy—and the many delicate aromatic nuances are the finishing touches on a pretty picture. Look for forest berry fruit, light toast and loads of almond (refined in oak for 18 months).

Grassy nose with lime and slate notes. Lots of flavor with grapefruit, acacia and pineapple evidenced. Very well balanced, a poised performer with a medium to long finish. Solid winemaking here.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
There’s a mellow, soft quality to this cool-climate Grigio that helps it stand out in a crowd. This is a round wine—no sharp edges here—that offers generous peachy cream, apricot, amaretto and just enough acidity to be zesty and mouth-cleansing.

If you love Italy and love elegantly oaked Chardonnay, this is your wine. Deep gold in color, Elena Walch delivers generous notes of apple, nut, spring flowers over lavish honey aromas. Opulent, modern and seductively smooth in the mouth, pair it with butter squash, turkey or roasted pork.
