Heavy and nutty, almost like movie popcorn. In due time the nose transitions to creamy berry and cranberry. The palate is soft and muddled, with some citrus and red apple. Sweet and tomatoey on the finish; needs more focus, acidity and dryness.

Hot and roasted on the nose, but still interesting and suggestive of high quality. The palate is very rich and sweet, with candied, ultraripe flavors of berry, fig paste and chocolate. Maintains that sweet, baked character onto the finish, which is mature and soft. Drink now.

Hard and unbalanced on the nose, with mealy, feral aromas. The palate is flat in feel, with sweet, mealy flavors of generic citrus. Not impressive; does little for the reputation of Spain’s Chardonnay.

Starts out a bit rough and horsey, but let it air out and escape from the bottle and this Tempranillo-Cabernet blend struts its stuff. There’s impressive core blackberry and raspberry flavors along with minerality, crustiness and structure. Tight on the finish and still youthful, with rugged tannins and power to spare. Very nice for a 65,000-case product.

Rich and creamy, but lacks zest and drive. The nose and palate offer sweet banana and oak, while the feel is almost too pillowy. Tastes more like a dessert than a dry white should. Still, it’s neither bad nor poorly made.

Sweet and candied on the nose, which draws you in. Runs a touch chunky, with plum and licorice flavors. Good acidity creates a racy mouthfeel, even teetering on fiery. Tight on the finish, but crisp and fresh. The blend is 80% Cabernet and the rest Merlot.
