Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
A nice Cab from a great vintage. Ripe and juicy in currant, cherry, cocoa and oak flavors, with lush, complex tannins that make for a creamy mouth feel. From veteran Bob Pepi, mostly Cab, with a splash of Merlot.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
A new wine from Robert Pepi, and an ambitious one. The veteran winemaker has crafted an aromatic, rather tannic wine of great structure and potential. Shows ripe blackberry and cherry flavors that are elaborately oaked, with fresh acidity. Drink after 2006. Mostly Cabernet with a splash of Merlot.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
This is a voluptuous Bordeaux blend based on Cabernet Sauvignon. It’s soft, lush and extremely ripe, flooding the mouth with blackberry and cherry jam, cassis, cocoa, sweet fresh green herb and spice flavors. Best now and for a few years, before it sheds its fruit.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
Needs some time in the cellar to resolve the ponderous tannins, and to let the extremely ripe fruit marry with the oak overlay. With strong flavors of blackberries, currants, plums, dark chocolate and cedar, it should start to knit together after 2010.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
Shows its pedigree in the very fine quality of the tannins. They’re sturdy but ripely sweet, providing a classic structure to the blackberries, black cherries, currants and sweet cedar wood. It’s good now, and should develop in the bottle through 2012, although it doesn’t seem likely to go beyond that.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
Not as rich as the last few vintages, showing a tougher, leaner but possibly more ageworthy profile. There’s some green, minty stuff going on, but also a wealth of blackberries and cherries. Try after 2007.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
From Bob Pepi, a classically structured wine that showcases how beautifully ripe Napa Cab can get, and how rich the tannins can be, grown in the right terroir and made by the right hands. The wine is dry and powerful in cassis and currant flavors that are well-oaked, and it has the body and firmness to age. Drink now through 2012.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
The great ’07s continue to roll out. Nearing four years of age, this Cabernet is quite soft, although it was probably soft to begin with. It’s showing a few signs of age, with the rich, ripe, chocolaty flavors of blackberries, cherries and cassis beginning to dry out. Should continue to mellow in the bottle over the next six years.
