Opens with spicy, almost smoky dark fruit aromas, which are followed by a healthy palate with freshness, good berry flavors and a touch of creamy oak that leans toward vanilla and lacticity. Good all around, with depth and a solid mouthfeel. Nice wine for the price.

Dark and raisiny, and pushing the ripeness meter to the max. This is a dense, sweet, semihot wine with raisin, stewed berry and jammy black cherry flavors. It’s big and broad, more simple than complex, with a raisiny DNA and a boatload of sweetness. Personally, I prefer Cassone’s less expensive, more balanced reserva to this wine.

Almost everything about this wine is right on the money, from bouquet and flavors to feel and price. The nose is sweet and floral, with deep, alluring berry aromas. The palate offers a fine texture, with pure, layered blackberry, cola and spice flavors. Satisfying on the finish and complete.

Full, dark, a bit rubbery and quite good overall. The palate has roundness and depth, while the flavors of berry and plum are ripe, balanced and only slightly oaky. Whole and relatively long on the finish. Eminently drinkable.

Smells oxidized, as if it’s dying. The palate is bland in feel and the flavors suggest fermented orange juice. Not hideous but uninspired; shows only a modicum of citrus character and pulse.

Cherry and mild leather aromas are inviting, while the medium-bodied palate, despite having some bite and edge, is topped off with cassis, cherry and light medicinal flavors. A bright wine with lively acidity and touches of oak, butter and vanilla on the finish.

Different than most, with reduced, rubbery aromas that also bring graphite and olive into play. Very thick and syrupy in the mouth, with low acidity leading to chewy plum and blackberry flavors. Licorice and baked fruit notes control the finish, which is short and chunky. Ready to drink now.

Inviting raspberry and cherry aromas have a tiny level of volatility, while the palate is chunky, bold and edgy, with big berry flavors leading the way. Full on the finish, with some oak and vanilla to give it padding. Lively, full-bodied Cabernet that’s pretty good in the long run.

If this truly comes from 90-year-old vines, as advertised, then it’s fairly light. It begins with simple dried-fruit and wintergreen aromas before picking up speed. Notes of citrus peel, buttery oak and blueberry dominate. For a light ride, it’s moderately smooth.
