Sugary-sweet pineapple, orange and mango fruit juice flavors mark this simple, party-style wine.

A simple Pinot Noir, with pleasant raspberry and cherry flavors. A little thin, but clean and varietally correct, with a nice, spicy finish.

This is a Merlot for people who want one doesn’t cost much. It’s okay, your basic cherries and cocoa. The winery’s suggestion of lamb shanks as a pairing will work well.

The promotional material for this wine says it’s to celebrate “the indomitable spirit and culture of the Big Easy,” New Orleans. It’s not only a bad wine, it’s an insult to the victims of Hurricane Katrina, and a cynical attempt to play off the public’s sympathy. If Bronco Wine Co., which owns the brand, donated any of the profits to relief efforts, it would be one thing. But they’re not. Shame.
