Fazio’s Insolia embraces a broader, wider approach with flatter texture and aromas. It doesn’t have those distinguished aromatic accents that you sometimes find in Insolia, but it does offer warm peach, almond and citrus fruit instead.

Here’s an innovative Old World take on the Australian model. Sicily’s Fazio Wines – run by brothers Girolamo and Vincenzo - has cooked up snazzy packaging for a Catarratto (an indigenous grape) and Chardonnay blend that definitely delivers the goods. Fresh cut grass, honey, citrus and exotic fruit with moderate acidity and good structure are perfect for everyday drinking. Thanks to its affordable price, buy this wine by the case.

Buttery notes of vanilla, almond nut, banana, mature peach and melon characterize this creamy Grillo from Sicily. The wine is dense and full on the palate and has the natural heft to stand up to pasta or shellfish.

Fazio makes the best of hot climate growing conditions and presents a well-composed Nero d’Avola that is enhanced by aromas of red apple, cassis, pomegranate and black cherry. There’s good intensity here and some sweetness, although the mouthfeel is in no way heavy or thick.

Fazio’s expression of Insolia offers a slightly denser concentration and a more saturated color than you’d expect. The wine is redolent of mature fruit, peach, melon and almond. In the mouth, it is soft and slightly fat.
