Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
A soft, aromatic tawny, with little to no aggressiveness. Flavors of oranges, caramel, nuts and chocolate make it more than easy to take. Almost nonexistent acidity yields a fluffy, almost hedonistic wine—yet it’s only a 10-year-old. Best Buy.

An impressively concentrated wine from this firm owned by Barros. There’s a dark toffee flavor that runs parallel to fine acidity throughout. The aftertaste is fresh, but still full of concentration.

This has a burnt, dry style, with high acidity. It tastes more mature than a 10-year-old.

Part of the large Barros Almeida group, Feist is one of those names that has an illustrious history in Port. This 2003 is a fine, ripe wine with plenty of rich, dark fruit flavors. There is a pronounced dry character as well, which promises well for the future.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
Feist is now a brand owned by Barros Almeida, but it has a history dating back to 1836. This LBV is immediately attractive, with perfumed aromas, and flavors of raisins and sweet fruits. It is not a wine for aging, with few tannins, but it makes a very pleasant drink. —R.V.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
This is a dry style of wine, with a touch of cistus aroma and lean acidity. There are good tannins, some fresh black fruits, but it needs more intensity to really show up the herbal flavors. One of the many brand names of the Barros group, Feist has a history dating back to the 1830s.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
The burnt character is too dominant in this wine, and it smothers any fruit there is. Just a touch dry as well.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
Dry, with some burnt character, this 40-year old from one of the companies owned by Barros also has great sweet fruit, lime marmalade and layers of acidity. It’s well in balance, leaving acidity to finish. Imported by Frontier Wine Imports.
