Despite some lacquer-like aromas and a raw, grabby palate-feel, this wine has a few virtues. The fruit is largely ripe and forward, and all in all it isn’t timid. Pie cherry and blackberry flavors come prior to a finish that’s firm and weighty. Awkward but decent.

Light and simple, and far from excessive or expressive. Candied red fruit carries the palate into a juicy, rather sharp finish. Meanwhile, pronounced acids exceed the fruit quality, leaving an angular, tangy feel.

A bit of sweetness to the bouquet, with an underlay of oak and violets. Apple skin and sour-cherry flavors come in front of a short, raw finish. Quite lean and stripped down, with tough tannins. Begs for food to soften it up.
