A good effort for the money. The nose has rubber and bold fruit, while the palate has a natural, balanced feel and nice flavors of berry, cassis, brown sugar and chocolate. Blends juiciness with enough weight and sweetness to rate highly in the value class.

Rustic and stemmy, with burnt, nutty aromas leading to a thick palate of stemmy black fruit flavors. Herbal, tannic and stemmy throughout, so at least there’s continuity between the nose, palate and finish.

Burnt, stemmy and roasted smelling, with a leafy cover to the nose. The palate is cheek-grabbing and tannic, while the flavors of red fruits are regular and spicy. Even more barrel spice appears on the forward, lean finish.

Mild apple aromas and powdered sugar make up the bland nose, and the palate isn’t much better. It has a creamy feel and vanilla-infused flavors of midgrade apple and pineapple. Finishes sugary and seemingly confected.

With aromas of talcum powder, gardenia and lychee, this offers classic Torrontés aromas. The palate is wet, refreshing and not at all heavy, and the flavors of gooseberry, lychee and lemon are simple but nice. Good, tasty and clean, which is all you can ask for from $10 Torrontés.

Heat and horseradish define the sharp, peppery bouquet. The palate is tannic and grabby, with leafy red-fruit flavors and an added dose of herbs and pepper. Finishes medicinal and peppery. At this price it isn’t shining.

Rooty aromas of baked fruit and coffee/mocha set the stage for a chunky, thick palate of semi-salty berry fruit. There’s a medium level of ripeness and sweetness here, which is broadened by oak, resin and vanilla notes. A good but typically bulky Malbec.

Smooth baked apple aromas work well, and the peach and vanilla side notes are equally good. Plump and easygoing on the palate, with honeyed apple and banana flavors, and then creamy on the finish, with vanilla and spice. Sweet, good and easy to enjoy.
