Very nice and controlled, as a maturing high-end Malbec from a good vintage should be. It’s full of ripe and classy fruit, leather and hints of finely aged gouda cheese. The palate is chewy but not thick, with balancing acidity and tannins. The fruit quality is up there, and thus the flavors of blackberry and cassis mixed with coffee and cream work wonders. Drink now and over the next year or two.

Starts out good, with menthol and wintergreen dominating the nose. The palate is forward and endowed with a lot of red-fruit flavors, but the mouthfeel lets it down. There’s too much bounding acidity and not nearly enough lushness.

If you don’t mind a little overt wood on your Malbec, then this will certainly do the trick and more. The nose offers some maple and mature berry aromas, while the palate pumps oak-infused black cherry fruit. Lengthy on the finish, with mocha and vanilla. Like we said, it’s a bit toasty and woody, but overall it works like a charm.

Deeply fruity, like a mine shaft with no end. It’s also jammy and carries undertones of shoe polish and asphalt. The palate offers cassis and baked cherry flavors, while the finish is short and modest. Shows elements of excellence but also some simplicity that brings it down. But as a whole this is nice, serious Malbec.
