Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
A classy, rich Pinot. It’s delicately structured, with a transparent silkiness. Tight in acidity and also somewhat tannic, but showing great finesse, with a spicy core of raspberries, cherries, cola, lime zest and minerals. Drink now and through 2015.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
Shows brilliant acidity, so filled with life and nerve. Very intricate but also quite oaky (60% new), with an eruption of vanilla and sweet char. Underneath is a rich vein of raspberries and strawberries. The oak is just a bit too powerful.

Fabulous intensity of flavor, all lemon custard, vanilla and oak. It is rich and mouthfilling, but with a good, hard minerality and tartness to the finish.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
This is an intense, brilliantly focused wine that displays near perfect balance. The flavors are of fresh, savory lemondrop veering into spicy mango and are well oaked, while the acidity is superb, lending a steely tang to the richness. The finish lasts a full minute. This classic coast Chardonnay will hold and slowly become nutty and complex through the decade.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
Very ripe, in fact, shows signs of overripeness in the raisiny notes accompanying the plums and coffee. The mouthfeel is heavy and Syrah-like, but with a silky texture. Good wine but needs more delicacy and breed.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
Full-bodied, with loads of earth, smoke and tomato. The color is nearly violet and the flavors match: There’s an unmistakable sweetness to it, from the welcoming front end through to the warm, kirsch-packed finish. For anyone who loves a sweet, jammy California-style Pinot, look no further.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
Opens with rich aromas of plum, oak, cocoa and green hay. Medium-weight and balanced with fine acidity and good tannic structure, this has potent, palate-filling plum, chocolate and spice flavors. The finish shows deep fruit and plush tannins. Best from 2004–2009+. Cellar Selection.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
Big, extremely ripe, a bit hot in alcohol, definitely full-bodied for a Pinot, with humungous fruit and a scour of tough tannins. It was very hot in the coastal hills this vintage and the wines were bigger than usual. If you can get past the size, this wine is luscious.
