Fruit, fruit, fruit all the way, and loads of it. Blackberry, black cherry, plum and even loganberry. Spice, too. Cinnamon, tobacco, anise, clove, pepper. It's balanced, rich, harmonious, about as fine as Sierra Foothills Zin gets. That's saying a lot.

A creamy, dry and complex bubbly right up there with the best of them. This blend of 65% Pinot Noir and 35% Chardonnay has aromas and flavors of grapefruit, and finishes clean and crisp. Very elegant, light-bodied and delicate. Best Buy.

Thick, viscous—almost oily—and so rich it makes a fine dessert on its own. The wine offers lush peach, apricot, vanilla, spice, tangerine and toast flavors, finishing long.

The feral mountain grapes manage to keep their personality despite the attempts of this fine Napa producer to bring a Cabernet-like balance to the wine. It’s like a Cab in the rich, soft tannins and balance, but those wild, brambly notes win out.

Zin has gotten increasingly expensive, but the upside is vintners are seeking out old vine examples, and this is a good one. The aroma is straightforward, all berries and plums; the complexity is on the palate. Very dry, with all sorts of berries, stone fruits, and spices. Balanced and absolutely delicious.
