This is a bold bruiser of a wine with thick concentration and dense extraction of flavors and aromas. You’ll recognize tones of spice, black cherry, blueberry, red currants, tealeaf and tobacco. The wine’s texture is equally dense although it ends on a fresh, crisp note.

The oak presence is heavy here and imparts aromas of vanilla, maple syrup and spice that cover the wine’s natural fruit. Bright cherry flavors play a huge role in the mouth, however, and help cement an impression of freshness and brightness.

This is a firm and compact wine that holds the Brunello banner high; cherry, leather, tobacco, and loads of clove spice linger on the nose and palate. The wine has a medium body with an interesting sweet and sour tug of war on the finish.

Leather and cherry aromas fade fast, leading to lean strawberry flavors and some cherry skins. Not offensive, but lean and hollow.

Give this wine a few minutes and it’ll display a fine bouquet of black cherry, sweet almond paste and cedar. The palate veers a bit toward the lean, red-fruit spectrum of Brunello, but the more air and time it’s given, the more open it becomes. Decant and drink slowly for best results.

A wine with stinging freshness delivered in the form of menthol, fresh green herbs and cracked peppercorn, with solid, underlying fruit and vanilla. Creamy and consistent in the mouth with lipsmacking acids and modest tannins. Imported by Laird & Company.
