A dry Vouvray, but one that has so much richness it seems almost sweet. It’s a great contrast of flavors—apricots alongside fresh apple juice, lemon, honey and a rich, soft texture. A wine that is delicious now but, with its mineral character, will also age magnificently.

Chidaine, based across the Loire in Montlouis, has only recently begun making wine from Vouvray as well. Le Bouchet is an off-dry wine that balances a core of minerality and acidity against intense richness. Flavors of sweet plums, apricots and almonds ride beautifully into the soft finish.

With its slightly lower pressure, this is a fresh, poised wine, which balances appley fruit, crispness and delicious green flavors. It is dry, but its softness and freshness leaves a very easy aftertaste.

This is a great, concentrated wine, which packs clean, almond, kiwi and apple flavors along with a creamy, rich mousse and delicious acidity. This is a wine that can age well—a 1996 was still fresh when tasted early in 2006. Imported by Louis Dressner Selections.

A medium-sweet wine that is sweet with honey and lemon flavor, and contains delicious ripe pear juice freshness. The acidity focuses the fruit, giving flavors of almonds as well as spice.
