Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
Aggressive now in acidity, this Chardonnay has powerful sour Lifesaver candy flavors of pineapples and stony minerals, with a potent kick from smoky oak. It tastes young and jammy. It’s elegant, and changes interestingly as it warms in the glass.

Another in a string of fine Pinots from this producer. Shows real cool coastal influence in the brisk acidity, delicate structure and deep flavors of cherries and cola, which seem to have a long hangtime complexity. Very good, and should develop over the next 5–6 years.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
Very ripe, in the manner of this spectacular vintage, showing a blast of cherry pie filling, black raspberry tart, cola and smoky oak flavors. The acidity is firm and clean. Feels juvenile, with a jamminess that a few years in the cellar should resolve.

So pale in color, it’s hard to believe it packs so much flavor. Stuns with the complexity of its cherries, raspberries and cola, with fantastically spicy notes. Hard to describe just how intricate it feels, changing by the second as the palate uncovers additional nuances. The vineyard, which is in Green Valley, is coveted among Pinot Noir winemakers. A very great Pinot Noir, defining silkiness and delicacy, and should age effortlessly for at least the next six years.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
Very ripe and deliciously forward in cherries, cola, bacon, anise and sweet smoky sandalwood, with silky tannins. The acidity is a bit low, giving the wine a softness that limits ageability. Now–2011.

Textbook Russian River Pinot, an absolutely delicious wine that pleases every which way. Dry and crisp in acids, light and silky in the mouth, its flavors are complex, suggesting ripe, mashed cherries and raspberries, cola, vanilla, cinnamon spice and smoky oak. Drink now.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
Oak dominates this Chard. It’s an example of the old criticism, drinking toothpicks. The flavors of buttered toast, caramel, roasted meringue and crème brûlée dominate the pineapple and pear fruit, unbalancing an otherwise excellent wine.

A beautiful Pinot Noir. It’s so light bodied, so silky in the mouth, that the richness comes as a surprise. Endless waves of raspberry and cherry purée, gingersnap cookie, buttered cinnamon toast, vanilla and sandalwood. Just a delight to drink, and should develop slowly over the next 6–8 years.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
This is a very pure Pinot Noir. It shows its origins in the silky mouthfeel and crisp acidity, as well as a certain minerality that grounds the raspberry, cherry and cola flavors. It’s quite good, but not an ager, so drink soon.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
Ripe and fruity in cherries, raspberries, cola and sandalwood, this Pinot also has firm tannins and a burst of acidity that makes it finish tart. It’s quite a good wine, but too young to show its best. Give it until 2011 to soften and mellow.
