Has a coppery tinge to it, but the real surprise is the bouquet—redolent of cedar. A portion of the wine is matured in oak, and it shows in the dry, woody notes that partially cover the charming berry fruit.

An earthy wine that shows dark flavors. It has spice and herbal flavors leading to firm tannins. The aftertaste is very peppery and dry. Somewhere the fruit got lost. Imported by Vranken America.

This 44-acre vineyard is situated in the heart of the rocky Dentelles de Montmirail. A blend of 75% Grenache, with Syrah, Mourvèdre and Cinsault, it is big, brooding, powerful with young, sweet tannins and solid spicy flavors. The texture is flowing and opulent, but the tannins remain at the end, offering good aging potential.

This wine is in the newer style of Châteauneuf, emphasizing elegance rather than power. But the backbone is there, with tarry, violet flavors and dark plum fruits, alongside firm tannins.

Strawberry flavors dominate this big, hearty, fruity wine. It may not be hugely powerful, but the fruit is generous, spoilt by just a touch of alcoholic pepperiness.

A strong effort from Meffre, the '07 Laurus Hermitage features exotic aromas of honey, ripe peaches and even a bit of black truffle. This full-bodied, opulent example of Hermitage should be consumed in its youth to best enjoy its flamboyant style of honeyed ripeness.

A quaffable if somewhat innocuous Côtes-du-Rhône with modest cherry fruit. The blend of 60% Grenache, 30% Syrah and the remainder Cinsault and Mourvèdre is medium-bodied, then thins out a bit on the finish.
