This wine is really a four-star, but the price ($25) was more than I would pay, so I'm leaving it a strong 3 1/2. On the website I saw that a bottle straight from the winery, which is closed to the public, was going for $18. Anyway, this shiraz is medium bodied, medium tannins, which is normal for a shiraz. The aroma is very nice and fruity with a definite cherry and rasberry, a hint of plum. It is fermented in French oak and it does have an oak taste with a velvety vanilla finish, about an hour after I put it in a decanter, I tasted a definite spice as well. Complex, but not for the price. It is on the acidic side, which is just a tinge more than it should be for a medium red. It went well with our pesto and basil cheese as well as a bruschetta cheese with wheat crackers.
