Approachable with a smooth balance of oak and fruit, this wine has a cherry and floral character with hints of cinnamon. The grapes are grown in a scenic spot--at the foot of Mt. Garfield in Grand Valley, Colorado, in the midst of a brugeoning wine country. It's not complex by any means--neither on the nose or on the palate--nor is it unique. But with a good piece of steak it would do nicely.

Colorado producer Garfield Estates offers a Shiraz with ripe fruit flavors and a dash of pepper. It’s drinkable but very lean on character and balance.

Strawberry and melon on the nose of this Colorado rosé are followed by like flavors of freshness and elegance on the palate. The wine still has some complexity but could use a touch more acidity to add cleaner edge. Overall, a friendly wine for summer suppers and patio lounging.

Spicy red berry and a wave of smoke give this an earthy but slightly bitter edge. It needs more complexity to round out the edge; might fare better with snoked meat.

The nose on this Viognier is a touch off and slightly green, and on the palate, thin flavors lack the curvy allure of the variety. Still, the wine has a clean character and overall easy drinking quality that recommends it.

Colorado wine, hmmmm, sounds good.  You should
try Cab Franc from Virginia too.  Cab Franc seems
to do well in America.
