This is tight, showing bitter red berries as well as firm tannins. It has an awkward rough animal character that underlies the crisp acidity. The finish is better, showing delicious red cherries and layered freshness. Glass stopper.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
One of the better Austrian reds we’ve tried, with mouthwatering aromas of smoke, black cherry, cinnamon and clove. So ripe, it seems slightly creamy-textured on the palate. Very clean, with oak and fruit in nice balance. Fresh and long on the finish, without much tannin. Drink now and over the next few years. Imported by Vin Divino.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
An intensely juicy wine, this needs time to bring together all the part of the blend. The richness and wood flavors show power, sweetness and dark berry and plum flavors spiced with cinnamon and toast. Give it a year for the extreme juiciness to calm down.

A hint of vinyl on the nose detracts from this wine's otherwise positive impression. White pepper and blackberry-blueberry flavors are carried along on a smooth mouthfeel, while supple tannins and a cocoa note chime in on the finish.

Smells nice, with pure boysenberry and mulberry notes garnished with vanilla, but turns crisp and tart on the palate, adding hints of cocoa and a slightly lactic note on the finish. Imported by Vin Divino.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
This 2003, with its hot year provenance, shows lush fruit, chocolate flavors, and a long, superrich spicy aftertaste. What it does miss is acidity, suggesting it is a wine that will age relatively fast. But for those who like denseness and power, this is one to go for.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
A fruity wine that is packed with red cherry and juicy plums. On top of the fruitiness, however, the acidity is prominent, which means it needs time to fill out, leaving a smoky, leathery textured aftertaste. Glass stopper.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
A beautifully elegant wine, blending three Austrian varieties with Merlot. Gernot Heinrich regards this as his flagship wine, and he has managed to make an impressive wine that keeps its richness and opulence well under control. The overall impression is of fresh cherries, plum skins, some toast flavors and a background of herbs and spice. A wine that should age 3–4 years.

“Pannobile” is a designation being used by Burgenland producers for the top blended reds, but this one is a bit of a disappointment. Coffee and cinnamon on the nose, with some green, herbal notes poking through the veneer of oak. Flavors are even more herbal and oregano-like, but supple and soft on the palate. Finishes with molasses and coffee notes. Imported by Vin Divino.
