Good and dry, with a firm scour of acidity and an earthiness to the pineapples and pears. This is a fine everyday Chardonnay at a fair price.

Here’s a good everyday Merlot marked by rich fruit and a smooth mouthfeel. Thoroughly dry, it brims with black raspberries, cherries and chocolate-covered raisins.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
A little peppery, briary and minty, so if you’re into pure, ripe fruit, this may not be for you. But it’s dry, rich in tannins, and has nice undercurrents of blackberries and plums.

Tons of flavor in this ripe, juicy wine, which comes from Napa, Monterey and Lodi, an interesting combination of cool and warm climates. Bursting with cherries, blackberries, red licorice, cola, cocoa, dates and vanilla spice, the wine also is balanced.

Gets the Chardonnay job done at a fair price. With a touch of smoky oak, the wine shows ripe flavors of peaches, pears and nectarines, and finishes clean and dry.

Rustic, soft and simple, with jammy raspberry and cherry flavors. Contains almost a quarter of Petite Sirah, but it’s still a gentle, medium-bodied wine.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
Jammy, ripe and simple, with cherry, raspberry and raisin-currant flavors, finished with peppery spices. There’s a Porty taste throughout, and a burn from high alcohol, that place this wine into the rustic category.
