Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
This Cab-Shiraz adheres to the idea of moderation in all things. Its size is just right for enjoying with food, and its black cherry and plum flavors, not oak or other shadings, are center stage. Would go well with game meats in fruit-based sauces. Imported by Moët Hennessy USA.

A blend of fruit from Yarra Valley—where the winery is based—and from the regions of Heathcote, King Valley, Bendigo and Rutherglen. The result is a wine built around a core of raspberry fruit and soft tannins, edged with slightly savory, meaty notes and framed by crisp acids. Drink now.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
Toasty and nutty, this shows less obvious, more understated fruit than the regular bottling, but more richness and texture. Despite the oak upfront, the finish shines with crisp, citrusy fruit. Drink now–2010, maybe longer.

A dry rosé of Pinot Noir made in a truly savory style, this wine features touches of peach, melon and citrus, but comes across as unusually stony and minerally. The crisp, dry finish will offer plenty of summer refreshment.

There’s an intriguing hint of graphite to this wine, but otherwise it’s pretty straightforward, with simple apple, pear and citrus flavors. Slightly viscous in the mouth, finishing slightly warm. Drink now.

Meaty yet floral at the same time, with distinct stone fruit notes mingling with darker plum and black cherry flavors. Medium- to full-bodied, with soft tannins, but crisp acids that define the wine’s structure. Drink now.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
On the nose, this Yarra Shiraz has smoldering, dried spice and barbecue-smoke notes that follow through to the palate, giving more pizazz to its red plum and berry flavors. Has decent grip on the midpalate. This reserve is very good, but no better than the winery’s regular Shiraz. Imported by Schieffelin & Co.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
Very clean and correct, from the pure aromas of fresh cherries to the medium body and supple tannins. The result is an easy-drinking, fresh-fruited wine that just hints at darker fruit on the palate and boasts a clean, mouthwatering finish.

Fresh and straightforward, with earthy raspberry fruit and grass scents followed by intense herbal-spiked cherry liqueur flavors on the palate. With its well-managed tannins, this is a good choice for lighter beef dishes, like pot roast.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
They’ve toned down the new oak here, but it’s still apparent on the nose, which gives up toasty, nutty scents in addition to ripe melon and pear aromas. Flavor-wise, there’s plenty of citrus is this relatively lean, tightly focused Chard. It’s clean and fresh on the finish, picking up some mineral notes.
