A lighter style nose, but sweet and earthen with a nice spicy, somewhat oriental character to the wine; light but nicely focused in the mouth; spicy and fruity with nice balance; well made wine, particularly for this property, but it is lacking in complexity or length; in sum, a pleasant wine that shows enough of the character of the wine to be good, but missing some parts. First nose is quite sweet and rich with lots of black cherry fruit aromas, but that gives way to a more diffuse set of aromas that contain dry earth and leaves, and hints of sour acidity; thin and earthen in the mouth; this wine lacks the ripeness and rich textures of this wine from a good vintage; somewhat thin and watery, although it does contain a fair amount of black fruit; more earthen and dry than appealing, however, and the wine has a somewhat short finish; not a bad effort, but the presence of a weak vintage year is more apparent in this wine than in some others from this year.
