There’s a lot of mature fruit and some strawberry jam here backed by prunes, raisins, tobacco, incense and cola. Pretty nuances of white stone and dried hay appear on the nose and the wine ends with sweet, sticky flavors of ripe berry.

Funky and green on the nose, with blasts of peach pit, mint, rhubarb and spice. A fair amount of fruit graces the mouth, but still there remains some green flavors. The mouthfeel, meanwhile, is grabby. Overall it’s fine but is missing some components.

Villa Rizzardi offers a traditional interpretation of Amarone with a leaner consistency than most and brighter aromas of forest berry, white cherry, raspberry and almond. It feels smooth and clean and would pair with spicy sausage.

This is a very ripe wine with dirty notes of strawberry jam and moist earth. The mouthfeel, on the other hand, is definitely more balanced and polished with chiseled tannins and a good spice-driven finish.

There’s loads of spice on the nose followed by dried currant berry, blueberry tart, cinnamon and tobacco. The wine delivers a fresh and elegant component that fuels a long sensation on the finish. It’s not too thick or dense, which also plays in its favor. Imported by Enotec Imports, Inc.

The nose starts out with cedar and lemon notes before it shifts to dried stone fruits and strawberry. The flavors run sweet, emphasizing candied red fruit, most of all cherry. The finish is drying and mildly medicinal, but not so much that it gets in the way.

If you enjoy a mildly barnyardy wine, say, something akin to a French Syrah, this should appeal to you. The nose is earthy for sure. The palate is dense and brooding, and a tad bit bitter. But there’s also a load of leather and tannin, which give it texture and some positive rusticity.

A whiff of ballpark hot dogs is about all you can pull from the dull nose. This wine is watery thin, with just the minimum in terms of cherry fruit and body. The finish is tight-grained and hard. Whether food might save it remains to be seen.

Some pepper and cherry defines the nose. More pepper and spice are detectable on the sharp, lean palate. On the finish, dried cherries and plum skins make for astringency. Persistency is it’s quality, but with that comes some persistent roughness.

Some rubber and grassy notes combine on the nose to cover up what strawberry fruit there is. The palate is rather sweet, dealing mostly candied cherry fruit. And the finish is tight and stemmy, which creates an overly tight feel across the palate.
