Black plums, faint char, vanilla and rose stem aromas intensify on the palate, with the char taking on a more herbal note. Firm acidity is backed by fine, sandy tannins and dark fruit. Finishes with good length. —K.F.

The warm climate of the Barossa is reflected in the heavy, sweet fruit flavors. The melon, guava and honey aromas and flavors lack zip and definition but certainly don't lack for ripeness.

This is a refreshing Chard, but one whose flavors are hard to discern--there's some stone fruit, some drying citrus, maybe. Not complicated, but an easy quaff.

Very ripe—overripe, maybe—berry fruit aromas are an appropriate prelude to dark, deep, ripe flavors. The thing is, the wine doesn’t have a strong enough frame on which to hang such big flavors. Does the ripe Shiraz thing well, and will surely have hosts of fans. Imported by Metrowine Distribution.

The bramble-laden nose is tight and potent, with the essence of mint peeking through. Powerful berry and plum fruit follows on the stylish, smooth palate, and there’s a good dose of _mocha on the airy, svelte finish. It’s young but not awkward, with a clean profile and a healthy mouthfeel.
