Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
Stemmy, stalky aromas cloud over dilute fruit notes, while the palate is on the acidic side, which causes citrus and pithy peach flavors. More pith on the finish, with a hint of banana. Just o.k., with limited character.

Bland at first, with applesauce aromas. The palate is more zesty and lively, with tropical flavors of melon and mango along with lime. Finishes with green citrus and jalapeño heat. Basic but good enough for quaffing.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
Spritzy in the mouth, with a ton of sweetness. There’s white corn, caramel, honeydew and apples on the palate, while the finish turns ultrasweet, borders on cloying. Seems a bit on the overripe side. Imported by Remy Cointreau USA.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
Good for Maipo Sauvignon Blanc, meaning it maintains a sense of purpose and elegance and doesn’t go flat and flabby. It’s a tropical express on the palate, with pineapple, passion fruit and gooseberry flavors. Finishes clean and short, but gets the job done. Drink now.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
A little bit of waxy cheese interferes with the apple and pear nose, while flavors of pineapple and orange are live-wire and forward, courtesy of piercing acids. Finishes in a style that’s consistent with the rest of the wine. Imported by Remy Cointreau USA.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
A little soft and heavy on the nose, which conveys a sense of overripeness. In the mouth, it’s not overly heavy but it is sort of chunky as flavors of apple and citrus brush up against mealy but then draw back to a fresher place. Finishes mild, with only a modicum of acidity. Drink soon for best results.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
Dark and earthy up front, with aromas of blackberry, hard spices and fresh tomato. The palate is jammy and deep, with brimming tannins supporting earthy, woodsy flavors of blackberry, moss and licorice. Flattens out somewhat on the finish, turning heavier and more rich. Drink over the next two years.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
Whether you call the winery Haras or Haras de Pirque, this Character Cabernet is the real deal. It’s earthy and round, with almond, moss, blueberry and boysenberry on the well-oaked bouquet. Comes across juicy and ripe, with layered plum, blackberry and black olive flavors. Smooth on the finish, with a dark, mildly herbal salutation.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
Fairly chunky and full-bodied, with a definite Maipo Valley streak of herbs and olives running alongside basic berry and cassis fruit. There’s little to get thrilled or disappointed over; it’s good but standard Cabernet with Chile’s patented tobacco, olive and herbal accents.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
Haras is the base-level label for Haras de Pirque, and frankly this Chardonnay tastes, smells and feels like a base-level wine. There’s a damp lack of clarity on the nose as well as sweet apple, cinnamon and spice flavors. Finishes fleshy and bland.
