Huge nose with deep, brooding aromas, strongly aromatic with black fruits, black pepper, herbs, sweet earthen aromas that strongly suggest the terroir of this wine; sweet and intense in the mouth with powerful red and black fruit flavors; this is classic California big cabernet; big raw tannins give the wine an edgy feel in the mouth, like it is looking to explode; there is an exotic richness to this wine that makes it compelling; long, very sweet finish; perhaps more power than subtlety here, but there is no ignoring this wine. Rich and powerful aromas, intense and deep, dense, blackstrap molasses and tar, cassis and blackberry jam, soft and perfumed nose; first taste was wonderfully smooth and silky with loads of sweet black fruit; but in the middle of the mouth, the wine became crushingly tannic, which defined the wine for the balance; the promising beginning was obliterated with a saliva-sucking dryness at the end of the wine; more time may cure some of this as there is a lot of fruit in the body of the wine that should survive the tannins, but tough now.
