Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
A plump, well-endowed white that tames Viognier’s exuberance with Pinot Gris’s restrained aromas. Peach, melon and spice flavors do show some exotic honeysuckle notes that fade quickly on the finish.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
An unusual blend of 37% Verdelho, 32% Viognier and 31% Sémillon, this is a fragrant yet not overbearing white, with rather simple grapefruity flavors and a round, ample feel on the palate despite carrying a modest alcohol level of 12%.

Here, 25% Verdelho is an unexpected component to a typical Sem-Chard blend, and the overall result is a very pleasing one. This is a fresh, clean white, with pear and Granny Smith apple flavors and a flinty-chalky feel. Great for the outdoors, and priced reasonably enough to keep a few extras around the house. Imported by Conquest Beverage Group.

Sounds like an odd blend, but you know what? This Ben Glaetzer wine works. It’s a 75-25 Viognier dominant blend, with a fragrant bouquet of honeydew, flowers and fresh cream. Its flavor profile (peach, some coconut, maybe some banana) may sound as upscale as a piña colada at a Cancún resort, but a wiry, dry citrus spine reins in the wine’s more rambunctious notes. Imported by Conquest Beverage Group.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
From star winemaker Ben Glaetzer, this is a full-bodied, moderately rich blended red consisting of 52% Cabernet Sauvignon, 33% Shiraz, 10% Dolcetto and 5% Grenache. A solid value, it offers slightly smoky scents alongside baking-spice and dark fruit aromas, followed by cassis and cherry flavors. Drink now.

Heartland Red Blend - 2007

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
This is a crisp, focused Shiraz—not a killer in terms of richness or size, which is part of its draw (particularly if you’re looking for something to drink with dinner). It has cool wintergreen and gingerbread aromas, and black cherry fruit on the palate. Finishes off with mint and tobacco flavors. Imported by Conquest Beverage Group.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
A step up from the basic Stickleback Red, the 2005 Cabernet Sauvignon offers flavors of chocolate and cassis, with just a touch of roasted bell pepper for varietal character. The texture is creamy-smooth, yet the wine ends crisp, with a mouthwatering finish. Drink now.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
Made by Ben Glaetzer, the Heartland wines are meant to offer an affordable entry to the Epicurean portfolio. The Stickleback Red blends Cabernet Sauvignon with Shiraz and Grenache to make an attractive wine for everyday drinking. Some smoky notes frame black cherry and black olive fruit, while the texture is creamy on the midpalate, fading a bit on the finish.

This blend of Chardonnay, Sémillon and Verdelho is fleshy and round, with aromas and flavors of peach pit, melon and spice and a tart finish. It’s a friendly little white for everyday drinking.
